thAn thEn

As always, I'm the first to admit that I miss things when I proofread my captions, and that there are some words that I get wrong every time I use them. These little 'Spell Check Fail' pages are aimed at terms which won't be flagged, if & when a text gets checked for errors, (which I also neglect to do sometimes). And again, I am way not qualified to presume to teach English to any!

There aren't any particular artists at whom these are directed, and I would not mention them by name, even if I could recall who they be. Some really wonderful work has been published by folks who seem to have only this error to detract from their stories! The most common error I see when reading captions is the use of the word 'thEn' where the context makes it obvious that the author means 'thAn'.
It may be an understandable oops in light of the tendency for the two words to sound much alike when they are spoken aloud. However, captions are textual expressions, not orations.

It is my hope that applying the errant terms in a topical text may help to express the point in an enjoyable, rather than critical manner, so, I hope you at least like the story!!!

  1. The story is cute and FUN,,, the pic is wonderfully HOT, and I sympathize with the sentiment...

I use the built-in "spell-check" of Photoshop. It does NOT recognize or care about grammar or syntax... I've had several captions sneak by with "he" in the place of the, she, her, etc... etc..... The cap "passed" spell-check with flying colors, though :)

    Thanks!

  2. Thank you, Britney. (i would SO love to feel the cool air caressing my fresh, hot labia while my lover touches my new skin and our tongues duel!) Sorry, got a little distracted there.

And that is exactly the point of this caption theme. Aside from trying to keep myself mindful of the need to proof and correct errors is my hope that some take away helpful tips and observations.
